So, we’re into a new year and we have a new recruit here at Valcato! After an amazing (yet slightly intense) recruitment process, we are delighted to welcome Otti Gauvain to Team Valcato, as our new Marketing & Admin Assistant. We’re super excited to work with Otti, but, rather than keep her all to ourselves, we thought we’d let her do the talking…
So, Otti, tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m 26, originally from Hebden Bridge but residing in Bolton now. I have 2 brothers, one who lives in Australia (lucky thing) with his fiance and my two nephews. In 2012 I went on a volunteering trip to Uganda for 2 weeks and in total, I’ve been to 15 countries (and counting, once COVID disappears). My favourite cuisine is Greek, number is 7 and colour is grey. In my spare (often limited) time, I go to the gym, hike the mountains of the UK and get creative on Procreate.
What were you doing before you joined, and how did you and Valcato “find each other”?
Before I joined Valcato I was working in Customer Service and Logistics, as well as performing myself, in various tribute bands and bespoke productions. In the summer of 2021, I left my previous full time job to work on lots of personal projects and wanted to increase my availability for performing. However, I started to miss the routine of regular work, and having rapport with colleagues like I used to; so I began to look for a part time admin style role where I could utilise my previously gained office skills, but still have the flexibility to perform. I had saved some options that I thought would be ‘alright’, although nothing was jumping out at me but something told me to hold off applying for those as there would be a better opportunity coming along. So, I scrolled through Facebook that night and saw Valcato’s post for the job and it couldn’t have been any more perfect if I’d written the job ad myself. It felt like Valcato were ticking every box I was looking for and I was ticking every box they were looking for – the perfect match. And here we are, my first week in and I already know it’s meant to be!
What will you be doing for Valcato?
A bit of everything; just the way I like it. I’m going to be a busy bee, working on enquiries, contracts, act liaison/logistics, social media content creation/scheduling, blog posting and anything else my lovely bosses need me to do in between. Essentially, I’m just going to have to become Valcato’s ‘Queen Of Spreadsheets’ to keep everything in line, and up to date.
What 3 words best describe you?
Organised, versatile, talkative – my mum says I can “talk the hind legs off a donkey”.
Do you have any pets?
I do, my beloved 6 year old Frenchie, Joey. Picture of my pawesome princess below.
Finally, can you tell us a fun fact about yourself?
My childhood nickname is Janice, which I’ve had since I was about 2. There was a TV show on, not long after my dad left for work each morning, called Chef, which Lenny Henry was in. Being a naive 2 year old, I thought Lenny Henry was my dad, so, every morning I’d ask my mum to “put daddy on” the TV. One episode he’s arguing with his wife and shouts, “Shut up, Janice” and I repeated the phrase over and over until the name stuck, and still is my nickname to this day.
…And that’s a wrap! Hopefully that’s given you an insight into our ‘Queen of Spreadsheets’ and no doubt, if you get in touch with Valcato in the near future (wink wink nudge) then Otti will be on hand to help.
We hope everyone has a better (hopefully COVID free) 2022, filled with health, wealth and happiness!
